New Football Coach Named for Brevard High School Friday, January 23, 2015 For immediate release David “Mick” Galloway, Athletic Director/Assistant Principal Brevard High School | bhs.tcsnc.org | Twitter: @BrevardHSDevils At the special board meeting on Friday, January 23 the Transylvania County Board Education approved the employment recommendation of Craig Pritchett as the new head football coach at Brevard High School. Coach Pritchett is currently the defensive coordinator and graphics arts teacher for Ridgeland High School in Rossville, Georgia. Mr. Pritchett has served as an assistant coach at Ridgeland High School for the past 10 years. The last five years he has served as the defensive coordinator. In 2012 Ridgeland played in the Class 4A state championship and have won 4 region championships since 2008. Coach Pritchett is an alumnus of Ridgeland High and went on to play college football at Tusculum College. At Tusculum College Mr. Pritchett was a 4 year starter and 4 year team captain playing for Coach Frankie DeBusk. During his playing days at Tusculum Pritchett received the following accolades: 2000 Defensive Freshman of the year 2001 National Football Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete 2002-2003 All Conference and Academic All District 2003 All Region 2003 All-American 2002-2003 SAC Scholar Athlete 2003 AFCA Good Work’s Team 2003 President’s Award In 2014 Tusculum College inducted Craig Pritchett into their Hall of Fame. Brevard High School received numerous applications and calls in response to the head football vacancy. A team of stakeholders including members of the school staff and community members participated in the interview process. The interview team was especially impressed with Coach Pritchett’s numerous accomplishments as a player, student and coach and felt Craig Pritchett possessed the skills, knowledge and passion to lead our football program.
